Self- Evaluation
For this assignment I produced three strong images (one product and two portraits). Throughout these images I wanted to:
1.Promote Marshall Amplification Company by creating a poster advertising the Marshall Product.
2.Advertise UK’s Peter Loy Company by making a poster/website banner containing a composition of my old camera in company of vintage props such as: vinyl disc, old book and decayed autumn leafs to add a little bit of a charm to the image.
3.Finally, to warn young people against excessive drinking of alcohol and having irresponsible fun by producing a poster for Rochdale Council containing strong social message.
In terms of research I searched for the information on the relevant websites such as: official Marshall Website, Rochdale Council, Directgov.co.uk, Peter Loy website, I also looked at old cameras’ e-bay auctions. Beside this, I collected information form magazines and leaflets (e.g. Kerrang magazines, photography magazines, Rochdale Council leaflets and adverts etc.)
I think that my final outcomes cover most of the criteria that I set myself. Also I believe that my ideas respond to a brief quite well and accurately. I judge my images as aesthetically pleasing and visually contemporary. Strong post-production in ‘Marshall’ and ‘Alcohol’ project was intended. However, in the future I would like to reduce the time spent in Photoshop and be more focused on technical site of studio lighting to get better ‘raw’ outcomes (this is my aim for next assignments). Furthermore, next time, in order to improve my work I will think more in depth about mimicry, positioning, clothing and make-up of my models (because these seem to be very simple in my photographs).
Taking everything into account, I think this project is successful despite a few imperfections. I achieved vintage look in ‘Marshall’ and ‘Peter Loy’ image and I produced strong, noticeable poster for Rochdale Council and these were my main goals for this assignment.
